SEBAL stands for

Land
It is a model that calculates evapotranspiration (ET) values, crucial for understanding crop water use, from thermal measurements taken from satellites by making use of the energy balance found on the Earth’s surface.
Originally developed in 1998 by Dr. Wim Bastiaanssen (founder and product ambassador for IrriWatch), it’s a model central to the engine of all Hydrosat’s water and agriculture products. SEBAL makes water use visible, anywhere on earth; turning satellite data into actionable water intelligence.
SEBAL answers a deceptively simple question that drives irrigation decisions: how much water is the land surface actually using? and it does so without the need for ground sensors, creating the solution for achieving precision irrigation.
